Failure to follow these guidelines could result in you losing your privileges on Badlands Discord.
Verified groups must have a minimum of (6) players to be recognized as a verified group.
Verified groups are allowed a maximum of (16) members.
Verified groups are only allowed to have (1) group post open at a time.
KOS is permitted inside of the Red Zone. NLR does not apply to the Red Zone.
Camping is permitted in the Red Zone.
Initiation inside of the Red Zone does not carry to outside of the Red Zone. What happens in the Red Zone stays in the Red Zone. Upon leaving Red Zone, all laws and rules concerning initiation and RDM apply.
Combat logging is not permitted in the Red Zone. This also applies to air drop events in the Red Zone.
Glitches/ Hacks/ Exploits are not allowed in the Red Zone in accordance with the rules governing the whole of the island and server.
On Duty Law Enforcement are forbidden from entering the Red Zone.
Individuals are forbidden from entering the Red Zone if being chased by or initiated on by Law Enforcement.
You cannot use the Red Zone to flee from any RP or initiation that occurs outside of the Red Zone.
Vehicles are not allowed in the Red Zone.
You cannot shoot from inside of the Red Zone to outside of the Red Zone. In like manner you cannot shoot from outside of the Red Zone to inside of the Red Zone.
You should not be dedicating your time to ruining the fun for others. If you are a toxic player, you will not have a good time here.
No racial comments, slurs, or offense remarks, either spoken or in side chat.
Be courteous when in Safe Zones. Don't block people in doorways and corners. Don't block vehicle spawn points. Don't push players or vehicles out of the Safe Zone. Don't damage or destroy people's vehicles in Safe Zone. Don't steal vehicles in Safe Zone just to be a troll.
Keep communications respectful when playing on the island: No harassment or bullying IC or OOC.
No spamming. This includes but is not limited to: in-game OOC chat spamming, prop/item/vehicle spawn spamming, and proximity voice spamming/trolling.
Soundboards are allowed in RP, however, they must be used minimally and for sound effects only. You should not be using a soundboard to play "meme" sounds that are inappropriate or out of context. They may also be used for voice disguise at a realistic level.
If someone is loitering/following/harassing/trolling you, you may give them warnings to leave you alone. If they ignore several warnings and continue their actions, you may attack/kill them. (One warning will not suffice, multiple warnings in a very short time span will also not suffice, you have to give them time to react.)
Do not claim a vehicle in Safe Zone that is was not yours after the server has restarted, for up to 5 minutes after restart.
You must have a valid RP reason for initiating on or killing another player. You may kill a player for not following repeated verbal commands after 10 seconds, or if the player reacts in a form of violence before the 10 seconds after initiation. Realistic demands only.
If you're holding someone's life at stake, and are issuing them orders/warnings to do/not do something, and they disobey you, then you may kill them. However, it should not be your first choice of action. In this situation, one single warning/order will not suffice, multiple warnings in a very short time span will also not suffice. Again, you must give them at least 10 seconds of time after initiation to react.
You may initiate on a group of players by shooting near the party, ensuring not to KOS anyone. Attempt at your own risk. KOS will inevitably result in a ban.
You may kill other players associated with the group you've initiated on, as long as it is in the same RP scene. This could be classified as the same area of a shootout on foot, or the same vehicles involved in a moving pursuit.
If someone has committed an offense against you (act of violence, mugging, etc.), you may recognize them based on their voice and clothing for up to 20 minutes afterwards. Players may change clothes or lay low during this time to avoid recognition.
There are two types of threats, an "active threat" and an "idle threat". Players may kill for an active threat, but they may not kill for an idle threat. The difference between the two is situational, but will always pertain to if the person making the threats has a weapon in their hand.
You are allowed to react to an active threat in that moment, not later when the situation is over.
You cannot initiate on a vehicle that is driving while you are on foot. Vice versa, a vehicle cannot initiate on a player on foot. This would be considered VDM.
You can initiate on another vehicle, from a vehicle, however it cannot be a head-on collision resulting in instant death. This would also be considered VDM.
You can defend yourself from random attacks on you and others in your group.
Vehicle Assault is only allowed in the event that life is in danger.
Vehicle accidents are not considered VDM as long there is reasonable proof of being unintentional.
Do not intentionally run over players, target people on sidewalks, crosswalks or in traffic stops for no valid reason or it will be considered VDM. If you see someone in the street and intentionally aim to run them over, or fail to attempt to avoid them, it will be considered VDM regardless of them being in the street or not.
Do not intentionally explode cars in order to kill people. Blowing up a car that kills a large group of people is considered Mass RDM.
Do not intentionally use your vehicle to target players or cars at random. This also includes running around the street damaging cars/tires for no reason other than to bait.
When in game, you are actively a part of the roleplay, and therefore you must also be actively aware of your environment as well. Any excuses such as “I couldn’t hear them because my headset was turned off” will not be permitted. Outside elements of the game cannot be used as an excuse to avoid RP.
You are responsible to not be AFK and participate in roleplay if someone initiates on you. This also applies in Safe Zones.
Players cannot camp areas of common interest. Examples of this would include Packaging, Chemistry Lab, Shopping Center, Nico Serge, Metal Trader, Law Enforcement locations, etc.
You may rob people for the items in their inventory. You cannot force players to send your money through the Virtual Bank, or any other OOC requests.
You may only kill a victim if they DO NOT comply with your demands. Victims that comply are to be left unharmed.
You may only make realistic demands, this means you can’t demand something unrealistic that the victim cannot deliver in order to kill them.
Once you have finished robbing a player who has complied with the mugging, you must flee the scene and abandon them. This means you may NOT kill or cripple them unnecessarily. (Shooting them once is not crippling, but leaving them to bleed out is). You may not take them as a hostage/kidnapping without a proper RP reason; mugging is not a valid reason for kidnapping/ransom.
You may not kill or attack people for stumbling onto your mugging or witnessing it. You should mug players in secluded locations to avoid being seen.
Secluded and non-public areas include; Alleys, dark corners, areas void of other players or abandoned buildings (In certain cases when an argument is present regarding the above stated areas, it can be confirmed or denied at the discretion of a staff member).
When in a robbery scenario, if the player with a weapon puts it away or turns his line of sight (meaning the player has completely turned away and is not even slightly facing you or has entirely shifted their focus away from you; this is usually at an angle of larger than 90 degrees), Fear RP will no longer be in effect and you may take this window of opportunity to retaliate with little to no risk. (This rule does not apply if you are being mugged by more than one person, as you may choose to retaliate if they retreat).
You may not rob the same person within a span of 30 minutes.
Government officials such as Law Enforcement Officers or Medical Personnel cannot be robbed for no reason, and can only be taken hostage as leverage or an advantage for an RP scene.
You cannot use a member of your verified group as the victim of your hostage scene.
You cannot force people to unlock their vehicles during a robbery situation.
You cannot use OOC info in an IC scenario, and vice versa.
You cannot use OOC terms as a means to get out of an RP situation. Anything said in-game is IC and must be treated as such.
Admin situations are when you are pulled outside of RP to speak to an Admin directy in-game. Admin situations are not considered IC and any information obtained and used in RP can be considered metagaming.
You should remain in character at all times when playing on the island. Assume the knowledge of only what your character should know.
Information or topics from outside the island should not be discussed. Discussions about something that happened in RP should stay in-game.
Do not use OOC terms in IC, this includes both IC text chat and voice chat. Refrain from using non-RP words; "server", "admin", "lag", etc.
Use OOC chat when you need to speak of OOC matters in-game. Making claims such as “I am going to speak out of character” or saying things such as “You’re breaking NLR!”, “You’re under Fear RP!”, etc. will be seen as Fail RP.
Any 3rd party Voice / VOIP program is considered OOC while in the server. In order for you to communicate with other players, you must use in-game chat or voice functions. Radios exist for this exact reason. Coordinating anything IC within a third party voice program is metagaming and will lead to a ban and/or a void of an RP situation.
In-game side chat in considered OOC and should not be used in RP.
The voice-chat display name cannot be used to identify players.
The kill-feed cannot be used to gain information about deaths.
You are not forced to participate in RP in Safe Zone, however, you can if both parties agree to it. Initiation for a scene outside safe zone cannot take place in safe zone.
You cannot use Safe Zone to avoid RP scenes. You must wait at least 5 minutes after RP before entering a Safe Zone.
You can not use the Safe Zone to shoot people outside of it.
You may not fabricate evidence to force a roleplay situation nor can you take OOC matters into IC roleplay.
Submitting video evidence that has been tampered or altered will result in a punishment at staff’s discretion.
Unrealistic behaviors, including but not limited to, bunny hopping and unrealistic driving, are prohibited.
You cannot RP as psychopaths, hitmen, serial killers, or terrorists.
You must remain in-character at all times, and may not break character to avoid an RP situation.
You must always value your character’s life. This means that you naturally do not want your character to die. Breaking this rule can result in a ban at staff’s discretion.
If you are actively holding a weapon in your hand, Fear RP does not apply and you may retaliate (even if it is on safety).
For Fear RP to apply with a knife, the perpetrator must be within stabbing distance. (Meaning if they use the knife, they are within distance of stabbing you).
You are required to oblige by the commands of your captor. If you attempt to escape or pull out a weapon to fight back but are killed, that would then display a disregard for your own safety. This is a calculated risk you took, or a denial to value your own life, which could result in a ban depending on the situation.
Acting in complete disregard for your life and being killed can result in a ban from the staff team for not valuing your character's life.
Your character only has one life, you should act like it. If you are clearly outnumbered, don't try to be a hero.
For simpler understanding, after death, you are still in the same life and have just been released from the hospital.
You can remember as much as you would like from before the incident. However, you cannot return to the same area while the scene is still active and you cannot make contact with the killer until the scene is over; there is no set time.
The radius or size of the area that NLR applies to can vary, but generally it means do not return to the same building or area you were killed. Do not loiter just outside the area and do not go seek the same players to create another situation. Attempting to abuse the NLR system or loophole around the rule is not permitted.
You may not kill Law Enforcement officers, EMS personnel, or any other government official for no reason.
You may not kill the authorities for simply pulling you over or questioning you.
You may not kill the authorities for giving you a lawful order. (Leave the area, put that away, identify yourself, etc.)
You must have a valid reason to retaliate against authorities. This would include but not be limited to; possession of illegal weapons or items, having an outstanding felony warrant, or being on the run from a recent prior situation.
Law Enforcement is NOT allowed to directly camp known drug locations/Illegal NPCs. However, they may patrol through the areas and stay posted within a 300 meter radius.
Members of Intelligence departments, agencies, or criminal factions are NOT to participate in investigations that they are involved in.
Any in-character laws and regulations regarding vehicles will be enforced by Law Enforcement regardless of which faction is doing so, and an attempt from said individuals to enforce vehicle regulations does not allow you to engage upon them.
If you are tasered and restrained by Law Enforcement, you must cooperate with their roleplay and not take advantage of any issues with their detainment systems.
You must remain in the game and outside of a Safe Zone for at least 5 minutes after being initiated on by Law Enforcement. This includes killing them. You may however pass through the Safe Zone during a chase.
Law Enforcement may impound your vehicle after you have been detained and charged with a crime, unless you pay your fines.
Law Enforcement may force you to unlock your trunk in suspicion of it possessing illegal items. If you refuse, you may be assumed guilty and have your vehicle impounded or destroyed.
You must be at least 17 years of age or older to play on the server per the ESRB ratings in the United States for Arma Reforger.
Your character must act at least 18 years or older.
Your description must be serious, and contain a proper description of your character. Anything stated within your description is seen as an in-character description of yourself and can potentially be used against you.
You may kill someone in self defense if they have refused multiple requests or commands under gunpoint to leave your private/faction property.
You may kill in self defense or in defense of your partners/faction/property if deemed appropriate.
You may only own 3 different properties, this includes your individual locker.
You cannot use any type of game bug to gain an advantage on the island.
Doing so may result in a permanent ban!
You cannot abuse the system of your government position for any reason, especially for an in-game advantage.
Impersonating Staff or any other position of higher government power is a ban-able offense.
Impersonating another player to withdrawal money from the Virtual Bank is strictly prohibited.
You cannot leave the game in the middle of a scene, especially a shootout. Leaving the game to avoid death is a ban-able offense.
A group consists of at maximum (16) members with verified group roles.
A party consists of at maximum (8) players who are together in the moment.
Groups are allowed to act violently towards other groups or players and may call upon other group members not at the scene to assist them.
If a group member has died and the scene is still active, that group member may NOT return to the scene. Any such return would be NLR.
If all group members at the scene have died, that scene is then over.
Parties are allowed to act violently towards other groups and players, however they may NOT call upon assistance from other players not directly involved in the scene.
Parties are allowed to act together in the moment.
If a party member separates from the party, that person is no longer a member of that party and cannot call for assistance from other party members.
If a party member dies, they are NOT allowed to the return to the scene after the incident is over even if the party has had a favorable outcome. This would constitute separation from the party and any such return would be NLR.
Groups and parties are forbidden from using 3rd party communication or OOC to speak with one another outside of the safe zone.
On Duty-Law Enforcement and Government Officials are exempt from this rule, however they must still follow all pre-existing rules.
You cannot have two different characters on the server.
You cannot play on two different profiles/accounts or have two different profiles/accounts in the Discord server.
Doing either of these may result in a permanent ban.
You may not change your name as a Steam player. Pick one name and stick with it when connecting to the server.
If you change your name as an Xbox or Steam player for any reason, you must notify Staff, especially if you are a Verified Member.
